Plains Conservation Center Field Trip

I know this is really overdue, but here are some photos from our trip to the Plains Conservation Center in the beginning of the year.

We were split into two groups for the day. Here are some pictures from one of the groups:

Griffen and Hayden
The class enjoyed the ride out to the Pioneer Settlement.
Jagger, Jolina, and Alyssa

Lily, Miya, and Tierney write on slates in the
one-room school house.

Kohl experiences a punishment that pioneer children
experienced.
Hayden also experiences
a punishment.
We learned about early farming equipment.

Logan and Maddox experience what it's like inside
of a teepee.

Jagger, CJ, and Aidan look at a buffalo bladder
that the Native Americans used as a canteen.
We learned about what each part of the buffalo was
used for by the Native Americans.

We learned how to shoot a bow and arrow, just
like the Native Americans did.
We also learned how to play a game with hoops and
sticks like the Native American children played.

We got to water the plants in the garden.

We learned that the early pioneers
didn't have hoses. They had to haul their
water from a creek and keep it in a barrel.
We got to visit the chickens.

We learned what a blacksmith's work area
looked like.

We visited the stables where the horses and
cows were kept.

Seeing the inside of a early pioneer family's home
was quite a learning experience for us!

Here are some pictures from the other half of our class:

Jagger and Kohl
Kail and Aidan
Iyana, Katie, and Nora
Sarai, Alyssa, and Jolina
Tierney, Lily, and Miya
Logan and Maddox
Allie and Maurizio

Liam stands by a cradle inside of an early settler's home.

Ali and Maurizio smile by a
stove that a pioneer family would have used.
Walking into a one-room school house

Nora experiences an
old punishment.
Ali couldn't stop laughing about
her punishment!
We had to sit up very straight
in this school.

Aiming for the hoops

It was the class' job to figure out what
all of the different Native American
items were used for.
